Maddiola is situated in the center of the natural reserve park of Mendizorrotz making available endless nature walks through the mountain of Igeldo and “bidegorris” in the city (red pedestrian trails in Basque) where you can also bike and skate as you take in gorgeous city sites.

Bicycles are available for rent in the city or can be provided to our guests here at Maddiola.

Also present are the routes to Santiago de Compostela, also known as way of Saint James and Santiagos way, displaying incredible views of the sea and country side with its final destination in Galicia.

Another popular hike is the route of Flysch passing through Zumaia, Deba and Mutriku. A fascinating maritime hike through cliffs and sea side mountains, the 3 towns form the Geopark of the Basque coast, a recent made member of the Red Europa and Global de Geoparques. More information: https://www.geoparkea.com/

Throughout  the  year,  the  very popular cross races are present  in La Behobia-San Sebastian.We at Maddiola  participate and will inform and guide you to the best areas of the races and all that they involve.

The urban beaches (Ondarreta,La Kontxa y Zurriola) invite surfers to  catch a wave and for the novice surfer courses are available all year round. More info: dBizi
